HTC has announced it is set to make a $40 million (£24.87 million) investment in streaming media game provider OnLive.
The deal has been carried out by HTC as it looks to reposition itself as more of a content provider, rather than simply as a software and hardware developer. An unnamed representative for HTC stated: "[The deal will] strengthen its gaming capabilities and help HTC tap into increasing demand for games on smartphones." Meanwhile, Comcast recently announced its Xfinity TV app is now capable of providing on-demand streaming video services to iPad users. The firm released an update to the software earlier this week, with Matt Strauss, senior vice-president and general manager at Comcast Interactive Media, noting that the firm is now putting in motion an aggressive marketing campaign to ensure iPad users are aware of the new capabilities of the Xfinity system.
