Gaikai has announced it is to launch a new streaming media service that will allow users to download samples of new games.
The firm's new Live Online system will use its own servers to perform the data-consuming task of managing and loading graphics and other engines for the games, leaving users free to play on the latest titles without the need for a top-spec PC. So far, titles set to be offered as part of the package include Mass Effect 2, Spore, The Sims 3 and a demo-version of Dead Space 2, although more are set to be announced in the future. Elsewhere, this year's London's Olympia Conference Centre will be hosting a showcase of the connected home between October 17th and 19th as part of the Streaming Media Europe expo. Programme director at the show and editor of Streaming Media magazine Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen commented: "The addition of the brand new Connected Home conference completes our coverage of the online video industry, making us the only single event in Europe to examine all of these interconnected multi-channel technologies."
