Apple may soon adopt technology to allow streaming video to be projected on televisions sets.
Two sources close to the project told Bloomberg that the company would use its audio streaming service AirPlay to facilitate the innovation. The unnamed persons explained that movies, television series and other streaming video content could be licensed to consumer electronic makers as part of the deal. Jasper Vervoot, director of marketing at US firm Royal Philips, told the news provider he is unsure how successful the company's video streaming activity will be. But he added: "Because of the market size they have with their portable devices, they have a naturally large share of the audio market." PC World pointed out that the Apple TV would be made obsolete by the innovation, since people could use their iPad, iPod or in-built functionality to utilise the AirPlay service. Bloomberg's sources revealed that devices capable of streaming video could be launched in 2011. Posted by Thomas Price ![]() |
