LoveFilm and Disney have signed a new agreement that will see the company delivering streaming media content to consumers.
Both transactional and video-on-demand options will be available for LoveFilm members, with Disney providing in excess of 50 titles for UK subscribers to watch. Content will be made available via PC, PlayStation 3 or connected devices, such as compatible internet-ready TVs. Disney's senior vice-president for media distribution in Europe, the Middle East and Africa Catherine Powell said: "This agreement builds on our existing DVD rental partnership to further extend the availability of our films amongst UK audiences." She added that the filmmaker is intent on providing content in "evermore flexible, easy-to-access ways". Meanwhile, Microsoft has launched an upgrade to its Silverlight platform enabling users to have access to new streaming video options. The new Silverlight 5 release operates in much the same way as Adobe's Flash system, as it is a browser plug-in offering video, apps, tools and games. Posted by Geoff Phillips ![]() |
