Streaming media consumers and other internet users have been urged to ensure they stay safe online, something that is especially important for younger individuals, it has been claimed.
Nikolay Grebennikov, chief technology officer at Kaspersky Lab, said the quantity of online threats is growing all the time and fraudsters are becoming more sophisticated in their attack techniques, which could put many users in danger. He commented: "Currently it's also a question of education - we as parents should teach our children that you should use rules, as in normal life. It can help a lot." Mr Grebennikov added that simple rules like not opening links from unknown individuals and not talking to strangers online can be the best way to keep children safe. According to a Federal Bureau of Investigation statement, internet users are advised against opening links that purport to show the body of global terrorist Osama Bin Laden, as these links could actually be a form of malware that may infect their computer.
