s announced the launch of a new streaming video service for 3D TV owners. Using the manufacturer's Explore 3D app, viewers will be able to enjoy a selection of on-demand movies, documentaries, and other programmes in 3D for free. Andy Griffiths, vice-president of UK consumer electronics at Samsung, said owners of the specialist TVs have become frustrated by the limited amount of 3D footage currently available. "Samsung has led the 3D LED TV market since it launched last year and the roll-out of our 3D video-on-demand service demonstrates our commitment to accelerating its growth," he commented. The company has claimed at least 70 titles will be available to Samsung customers by the end of the year through the Explore 3D portal, which can be accessed via the Smart Hub platform built in to the firm's latest TVs. In a recent blog post for Circle ID, technology expert Paul Budde said interest in the market for on-demand streaming video is growing rapidly among providers around the world.
