The online streaming video market is to see a new battle of the providers, with Comcast looking to topple Netflix as the top provider of streaming content.
The company has launched its new Xcalibur product that aims to take the mantle as the most popular option for streaming media consumers. However, it is up against fierce competition from the likes of Hulu Plus from Netflix, but the firm is hoping its personalised on-demand TV offerings will help turn the tide in its favour. Comcast stated: "As a network-based entertainment experience, the rich TV navigation and services will eventually carry over to many other TV devices." According to Azuki chief executive officer John Clancy, streaming video has gained a significant amount of support over recent months and it is an area that is growing rapidly. He told TMCnet that during his recent visit to the Streaming Media East 2011 trade he saw that demonstrators are now more knowledgeable than ever about streaming video. Posted by Thomas Price ![]() |
