A new streaming video service from Microsoft could be set to be unveiled at this year's E3 video games conference.
Winrumours has speculated that the developer is presently in last-minute talks with content providers to ensure the announcement can go ahead. Diamond for the Xbox Live will be a streaming video service that will be available to gamers and although the project is to be unveiled this month, it is unlikely to go live for users until at least November. As part of the evolution of streaming video on the console, Microsoft looks set to be merging its Xbox Live components with that of Microsoft TV, allowing users to access on-demand streaming video and television content, while at the same time remaining connected to online gaming. Microsoft also recently unveiled its Silverlight 5 media platform to deliver on-demand streaming media content to its customers. The company said in a statement that the product "adds significant new features and capabilities, and enables developers to create premium media experiences and deliver rich applications across browsers, desktops and devices".
