PlayStation 3 (PS3) users are being offered a free streaming audio service from Sony following the recent spate of hacks on users' accounts that may have turned many people away from the console.
Aa blog post for Gadget Helpline stated that Sony is intent on making up to its users for these security lapses and the new Q Music Unlimited streaming audio service is one way they are going about doing just that. He added that the new service will be open to all PS3 users aged 18+ and it will give them access to around seven million music tracks. Meanwhile, Ian Shaw, managing director of MWR InfoSecurity, recently argued that Sony may have been targeted for malicious hacking in recent weeks as a result of its digital rights management (DRM) policy. He noted that the company's crackdown on individuals who had been circumventing the DRM and other security protocols in order to access copyrighted material for their own ends may have had a part to play.
