It is getting to the point where young people take access to the latest technologies such as live streaming media and superfast broadband as standard, it has been claimed. Danah Boyd from Microsoft Research said people are integrating technology into their lives from a very young age now and this has meant they have never known a time when access to the internet was not available. She commented: "What fascinates me about a lot of the technology elements is that we could talk about youth culture having adapted them 15 or 20 years ago, with the rise in early technology, now these are genuinely mainstream ." Meanwhile, Chris Marling, editor of Broadband Genie, recently argued that the UK is falling behind other nations in terms of the provision of superfast broadband services. He said investment in and delivery of the superfast mobile broadband network is considerably slower in the UK than elsewhere, although it is the same providers that are operating both abroad and in the UK. However, at present, Mr Marling suggested there seems less impetus to get new innovation and superfast broadband up and running successfully.
