UK streaming media providers could be set to benefit from greater access to their content through the launch of a new superfast broadband trial by O2.
The firm will be undergoing a trial of the superfast system later this year, with the company set to take a balanced approach to pricing and content requirements, unlike its sibling Be Broadband which is focused on premium, unlimited usage customers. Felix Geyr, O2's head of home and broadband, said: "What we are determined to do is offer a service that has all the things you love about our existing LLU broadband packages - great service and support and of course super fast speeds." Meanwhile, the European Commission has sanctioned a combined £19.96 million grant to a number of research studies into the expansion of fibre optic bandwidth and speeds. Its aim is to help deliver access to superfast networks to 50 per cent of all Europeans by 2020. Posted by Emma Johnson ![]() |
