Sony has announced it is launching a new streaming video offering in Australia, officially titled 'Video On Demand powered by Qriocity'.
The company is offering a subscription service to Australian consumers that will feature access to a wide range of video content and enable users to purchase programmes for up to 48 hours for playback, Encore magazine reports. "Music, sport, food, travel, catch up TV, YouTube and now full-length films - there's something available on-demand for every member of the family," commented Sony Australia's content partnership manager Sharon Ashworth. She added that the product was launched in the US in April 2010 and is also presently available in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and Canada. Meanwhile, Robin Pembrooke, managing director of ITV Online and On Demand recently highlighted the launch of a new streaming video service from ITV for owners of Android 2.2-powered phones in the UK.
