Amazon has bulked up its on demand streaming service by signing a deal with US network CBS to broadcast shows from its sizeable library.
Under the non-exclusive licensing agreement, users of the Amazon Prime platform will be able to watch the full seasons of 18 TV shows, including Cheers, Frasier, the complete Star Trek franchise and Numb3rs. Some 2,000 extra episodes have been added to Amazon's catalogue, taking its total number of movies and programmes to more than 8,000. Amazon Prime is a membership service that complements the online retailer's Instant Video facility, which offers over 90,000 films and shows on a subscription basis. Jeff Bezos, chief executive of Amazon.com, said: "We're excited to add thousands of popular CBS programmes to our already great selection, all of which stream at no additional cost to Amazon Prime members." New releases on Amazon Instant Video include Two Weeks Notice, Waking Madison and Take Me Home to Night. ![]() |
