Apple has revealed its Apple TV set-top boxes are to benefit from two new features that will provide users with additional streaming video content from iTunes and Vimeo.
Vimeo content is to be available through a new app, with users able to browse online content and access videos via their set-top boxes at no additional cost. The iTunes update enables users to stream purchased iTunes shows directly from Apple. This effectively expands the library to users browsing from the living room as they can rent and purchase content through iTunes. The update is available to people who own second-generation Apple TV equipment. Plans are presently in the pipeline for the delivery of a wider selection of movie content for users in the future as well. This follows AOL's recent announcement that its HD TV services are soon to be available for Yahoo Connected TV, Roku, DivX TV and Boxee subscribers. "There has been explosive growth in the number of users who watch and interact with internet content on their televisions," said Rob DelaCruz, general manager for AOL HD.
