Non-profit organisation the Talking Information Center (TIC) is helping visually impaired individuals to keep up to date with current affairs and to have access to popular books and magazines.
The TIC is offering a streaming audio service for its subscribers that reaches more than 25,000 individuals in Massachusetts in the US, the Boston Globe reports. However, this number is set to increase massively when the TIC's national service is launched next month. The new service is being provided on a separate audio stream for individuals who have difficulties with their sight and it includes several major newspapers - USA Today, the Washington Times, the New York Post - as well as magazines including National Geographic, BusinessWeek and many more. Formed in 1977, TIC is an award-winning radio and online service that has helped Americans with reading difficulties for more than 40 years. It broadcasts 24 hours per day and has received many accolades over the years, including Program of the Year by the Boston Globe in 2009. Posted by Emma Johnson ![]() |
