A new streaming audio solution is to be offered by Apple in the form of iTunes Match.
The product has been put into beta testing and although the UK release of the app has been put back until 2012, it is still likely to prove popular with music lovers when it finally is available. It works by allowing subscribers to use the tool to transfer the downloaded music they already own - and it does not have to have come from the iTunes store - to the cloud, freeing up space on their iPads, iPhone or iPod Touch devices. Users have will room for around 25,000 tracks in their Match account and they can still have access to the music when they are offline by re-downloading the files at any time; otherwise the music is streamed to their device from the cloud. Meanwhile, the launch of Apple's Replay streaming video service in the UK would still appear to be some time away, as deals for content with a number of Hollywood film studios are still in their early stages.
