Individuals keen to watch streaming video content on their PCs, laptops, TVs and other entertainment devices are set to benefit from a new player in the arena - Blockbuster.
Reuters reports Blockbuster Movie Pass is being unveiled for Dish Network subscribers over the coming months and will provide access to on-demand movie titles from Blockbuster's extensive library of releases. Blockbuster was purchased by Dish Network earlier this year in a deal believed to be valued around $320 million (£206 million), while further purchases could be on the cards for the cable network provider with a bid for Hulu believed to have taken place behind closed doors. Owners of Microsoft's Xbox 360 console are also soon to benefit from greater access to streaming video content after chief executive officer Steve Ballmer announced last week the upcoming launch of Xbox TV. The service will come in time for the festive season in the UK, with live TV and on-demand video content from possibly "hundreds of providers" being made available to subscribers.
