Google has outlined its plans to create a more user-friendly version of its Google TV streaming media service via a recent update.
Speaking at the recent Streaming Media West conference, Google TV's business development lead Shanna Preve said the new Honeycomb software upgrade will play a key role in addressing usability issues that have affected the smart TV platform thus far. She stated that user feedback has called for the service to become less complicated and more enjoyable to use, while highlighting the importance of constant improvement and an open approach to content. Google is also working at attracting developers to create as much as possible for Google TV, with Ms Preve noting that the industry does not yet know what consumers want from connected TVs. "We're all kind of experimenting right now ... It took 80 years for the television market to get where it is today. It's certainly not going to be figured out by 2012," she said. Last week, a report from comScore revealed that Google-owned sites such as YouTube accounted for almost half of all online video views in the US in October 2011. Posted by Geoff Philips ![]() |
