Cloud gaming provider Gaikai has revealed plans to introduce full games to its service in the coming months.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, company founder David Perry said it will be looking to introduce complete retail packages within around 90 days of Gaikai's imminent launch on Facebook. Currently, Gaikai allows websites to embed streaming demo versions of popular games, which are hosted on high-end remote servers and are playable through any browser. Mr Perry said this offers advantages over competitor OnLive, as games do not require any alteration to their coding to function with Gaikai, meaning any new title can be added to its catalogue with little delay. "I can put your game in front of more than 100 million people, easily ... If we put you on the homepage of YouTube right now on its own, you're already hitting that number," he said. Gaikai has partnerships in place with many leading gaming companies, including EA, Ubisoft, Sega, Capcom and 505 Games. Posted by Geoff Phillips ![]() |
