The total number of video streams watched online increased by 25 per cent year-on-year in September, new figures show. Data from the Nielsen Company revealed that the amount of time viewers spent watching videos online also increased by 25 per cent year-on-year last month. The proportion of streams per viewer rose by 11.1 per cent, while the number of unique viewers increased by 12.3 per cent. YouTube was the most popular video site in the US in September, with more than six million streams and over 100,000 unique viewers. In second place came Hulu with 437,407 total streams, followed by Yahoo (228,494), MSN (180,104) and Fox Interactive Media (139,634). YouTube's own recently released figures put the number of videos it streams every day closer to the one billion mark. Meanwhile, data recently unveiled by comScore, said YouTube's US market is in the region of ten billion videos watched online every month. ![]() |
