The popularity of steaming media is on the rise, causing the proportion of video ads to increase concurrently, an expert has said.
Jamie Estrin, managing director of Web TV Enterprise, explained that there has been an increase in the amount of "fresh, professionally produced content" so naturally, advertisers have latched on to this trend and want to capitalise on it. Mr Estrin pointed out that initially, user-generated content was the most preferred type of video as streaming content became popular but now, the calibre of streaming media has improved markedly and advertisers are keener than ever to engage with video users. "Every advertiser has their target audience and they want to know what they are doing," he said. "Advertising revenue will always follow media consumption and there can be no doubt that consumption of online video grew exponentially last year and it is only going to continue to grow." A recent Nielsen survey found that half of global online consumers have already paid for or would consider paying for professionally produced video content. ![]() |
