A new report suggests that older people may be increasing their engagement with online streaming media.
According to a survey conducted by content networking site Dadooda.com, the average silver surfer spends up to 26 hours engaging with content on the internet. This translates into 57 days, or 1,369 hours, over 50s spend online conducting activities such as shopping, emailing and banking in one year. The survey found that many over 50s engage with online material to relax, with almost six in ten respondents saying they go online to keep their minds active. Neil Stapley, founder of Dadooda.com, said: ''Surfing the web has positive implications for the over 50s health. ''Our results stand in stark contrast to those of the average 21-year-old who is becoming increasingly depressed by overusing the web.'' A recent poll carried out by Motorola found that 50 per cent of people in Britain regularly stream online video content over the internet. ![]() |
