A new survey has found that many internet users do not know how much streaming content they consume every month
According to research carried out by Broadband Choices, 42 per cent of people said they do not know how much online content they engage with and download every month. The survey, which questioned 1,400 broadband users, found that 20 per cent of people questioned have no idea about what the terms of their download limits are. Nearly a quarter of people surveyed said they were unaware that most "unlimited" download packages actually come with a fair usage policy attached. Michael Phillips, product director at Broadband Choices, said fair usage policies and download limits are becoming the next major grievance between consumers and internet service providers, largely because of misunderstandings around the issue. "The streaming of online content, whether it is TV shows, video clips or music files, will only continue to increase," he said. "The rules governing this area need to adapt to take into account the changing nature of internet usage." ![]() |
