Yahoo has announced the launch of a new advertising deal with music streaming service We7.
As part of the deal, Yahoo will be tasked with selling We7's display advertising inventory, as the streaming services looks to expand in scope. The majority of We7's three million monthly users will continue to be able to listen to streaming audio media free of charge but will be exposed to audio adverts in between songs. There will also be display advertising across the site. Steve Purdham, chief executive of We7, said the deal is aimed at helping the company expand its user base. Speaking to the Telegraph, he explained: "The main benefit of outsourcing our display advertising to a powerful sales force such as Yahoo is so we can ensure we are in a position to be able to scale our user base, which will be part-funded by getting major advertisers on board." Last month, We7 launched a two-tiered subscription service, which allows users to enjoy streaming media for either £4.99 or £9.99 a month without any adverts. ![]() |
