Seagate has confirmed the addition of streaming capabilities to its FreeAgent Theater+ HD media player.
The company has opted to add Netflix streaming capabilities to its media player through a firmware upgrade that is available to all owners to download. All new models of the product will ship with the feature installed, the company notes. According to Cnet, major storage brands such as Seagate and Western Digital are increasingly looking to offer consumers ways of streaming data they have stored with minimal fuss. And the addition of features that allow streaming from internet sites further enhances the abilities and functionality of such products, the news provider notes. David Mosley, executive vice-president of sales, marketing and product line management at Seagate, said: "The combination of access to local storage and streaming media playback with access to a wealth of online content makes the FreeAgent Theater+ HD media player a valuable addition to modern home entertainment systems." ![]() |
