Virgin Media attracted in excess of 200 million views of on-demand TV content in the first three months of this year, the company has revealed.
The proportion of views included catch up content from ITV, BBC, Channel 4, Virgin1 and Living, along with music video content and films. Channel 4's on demand service 4oD experienced a successful and record-breaking quarter, with nearly 19 million views of catch up content during the first three months of this year. Meanwhile, BBC iPlayer generated more than 50 million views of online streaming content in the first quarter of 2010, with EastEnders Live watched on-demand by over a quarter of a million Virgin Media TV customers. Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media said: "Watching TV on demand is now part of the nations' daily viewing habits, with millions of people tuning into the TV programmes they love when they want to watch them. " She added that as the way people watch TV continues to evolve, Virgin Media will strive to develop new ways for consumers to make the most of high definition, 3D and online TV. ![]() |
