Yahoo!7 and ninemsn have teamed up to launch a new Australian-based online video service, it has been announced.
The on-demand streaming service, known as Juno Interactive, will provide viewers with a range of television programmes and films from major studios in the US, Europe and in Australia. The service is slated to go live in late July or August and will be streamed through a web browser via customers' broadband internet connections. Juno Interactive will use Adobe Flash technology and comes with built-in digital rights management technology that will allow users to watch the content for a certain time (typically 24 or 48 hours) after they've paid for it. The service will launch with content in standard definition with a view to expanding into a high definition format in the future. Jimmy Storrier, founder of Juno Interactive, told IT Wire: "We've always wanted to make this available to as many people as possible rather than limiting to a certain box or ISP." ![]() |
