| Virgin Media launches video on-demand service |

Virgin Media has launched a new online and mobile TV video on-demand service.
The Virgin Media Player goes online today (July 29th) in beta and features hundreds of hours of streaming content including programmes from channels including ITV, Living, National Geographic, Disney and the Cartoon Network. The trial launch will be initially available to customers on Virgin Media's XL TV package who also have a broadband connection with the company. Registered Virgin Mobile pay monthly customers will also be able to access an hour of streaming mobile content per day at no extra charge. Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, said: "We continue to explore innovative new ways to bring our customers' favourite content to them and, with Virgin Media Player, we're making sure they're spoilt for choice." Virgin Media Player for mobiles will launch with content from 4oD and MTV Snax - a made-for-mobile channel with streaming snippets of popular MTV shows such as Cribs and The Hills. ![]() |
