| Brits spend increasing amount of time online |

s reveal that people are spending more and more time browsing the internet and engaging with new technologies. According to statistics from regulator Ofcom, people in the UK spend around seven hours each day surfing the internet, using their mobile phones and watching TV programmes. Ofcom surveyed 1,138 people and found that when multitasking on various media and communications devices, the average person spends nine hours in total engaging with technological devices. The report also reveals an increasing popularity of browsing the internet and engaging with streaming media using smartphones. Around 13.5 million people now surf the web on their phones - up from 5.7 million in 2008. Meanwhile, the use of mobile data has also increased by 240 per cent between 2007 and 2009. James Thickett, director of market research and market intelligence at Ofcom, said: "[People] are taking up more and more communications activities but fitting them into the same amount of time." ![]() |
