Virgin Media and online music provider Spotify are set to join forces to provide streaming audio to UK consumers, it has been claimed.
The internet service provider is keen to offer downloadable music to its customers and, having failed to launch its own music service provider last year, the firm now looks likely to tie up a deal with Spotify to do just that. An unnamed Virgin Media source claimed: "Virgin Media is forging new ground in music and whilst we are currently in talks with numerous parties, we want to ensure that any service provides a truly compelling offering for both consumers and the industry." Elsewhere, Film rental company LoveFilm has announced a partnership with Sony for the delivery of streaming video titles on the Playstation 3 (PS3). Users will be able to download films to their PS3s, with titles sorted into a range of categories, including Pick of the Week, Most Watched and Highest Rated. ![]() |
