Parents must be ultimately responsible for what streaming video and other online content their children are viewing, it has been stated.
Richard Harris, director of education at 7Safe, said parental responsibility is what it boils down to when youngsters are accessing online content. He commented: "Fundamentally parents have to take responsibility, and have to take an interest where their children are browsing. Without that kind of involvement, then the implementation of the government policy just won't be effective." Mr Harris added that blocking all sites is not necessarily the best option, but ensuring children do not have access to inappropriate material is a concern that all parents should have. Elsewhere, Tony Neate, managing director of Get Safe Online, recently said that the new release of Internet Explorer 9 by Microsoft will allow users to more effectively manage the access that outside sources have to stored information on the computer and in turn will provide better security for data.
