The new WD TV Live Media Hub has been launched by Western Digital offering streaming media services for users.
According to Big Picture Big Sound, the integration of internet services with home hub connectivity means the Live Hub is extremely flexible. The news provider stated: "In addition to providing integrated streaming services such as Netflix, Blockbuster On Demand, Pandora, Facebook and YouTube, the bigger story is the Live Hub's support for practically any media file it finds on your home network." It is now available at a price of $229 (£146.89) and supports all manner of files, including MPG/MPEG, PLS, JPEG, GIF, TIF/TIFF, MP3, MP4, MOV, SSA, SMI, WPL, WAV, MKV, M2TS, OGG, Dolby Digital and a host of others. Elsewhere, Tech World recently reported that streaming media company Zecter has been purchased by Motorola Mobility. The acquisition will go some way to strengthening Motorola's offering in the Android and smartphone industries, with Zecter providing streaming video and audio content for 3G users.
