Streaming media services provider Netflix has set a date for the completion of captioning for its entire catalogue of content.
The firm is presently in the process of upping its captioned content from 30 per cent of titles to 80 per cent and hopes to achieve this goal by summer 2011, with future long-term goals to include the upgrade of all offerings. Furthermore, the firm is to increase the number of devices for sale that support hearing impaired captioning, ensuring that users who have less than perfect hearing are still able to enjoy online streaming media content. Elsewhere, streaming media provider YouTube has announced the site is in talks with many major broadcasters to offer live sporting events online. "It's fair to say that there will be a lot more appealing sports content you'll see on YouTube. We have conversations with pretty much everyone," Gautam Anand, Google director of content partnerships for Asia Pacific, commented. Posted by Geoff Phillips ![]() |
