The launch of the new Apple iPad 2 has taken place, in what could be good news for streaming media users around the world.
James Holland, editor of Electricpig, said the new technology will be thinner, more powerful and capable of delivering sharper images and handling more data - a dream solution for streaming media users who wish to download and consume content on the go. He commented: "More importantly, expect upgraded software to let iPad developers weave fresh new apps for Apple's upgraded tablet." Mr Holland added that developers will be able to use the new capabilities of the iPad 2 to deliver better services and more interesting uses of the technology in the coming months. Meanwhile, adaptive streaming media services are being showcased at the CableLabs Winter Conference. Amit Eshet, senior director of media processing at BigBand Networks, noted that broadcast TV and on-demand services are being highlighted at the event for iPad, tablets, netbooks, PCs and gaming consoles.
