Warner Bros has announced a new proposal that it has put to social networking site Facebook to determine whether the 600 million-plus users of the site would be willing to pay for streaming video content.
The media giant has launched a preview of the services it hopes will be a hit with Facebook users on its own fan site, providing streaming video content of 2008's The Dark Knight for 30 Facebook credits - the equivalent of $3 (£1.87). Should the launch prove popular, Warner Bros hopes to expand its content to a host of new releases in a deal which could be beneficial for both themselves and Facebook in the future. Elsewhere, streaming audio provider Spotify achieved the landmark of its one millionth paying European subscriber earlier this week. Daniel Ek, Spotify's chief executive said: "Growing to over one million paying subscribers is an awesome milestone for us and we're humbled to see how popular Spotify has become over the past two years."
