Samsung customers will be able to access on demand streaming services for its 3D televisions.
The digital giant is set to roll out its online video programme to consumers of its 3D TV, starting with its viewers in Korea. It has reached an agreement with DreamWorks Animation to provide 3D content for its high-tech television sets and those with Samsung's 3D TVs in Europe and the US will be able to enjoy the service once it has been tried in Asia. Flicks such as DreamWorks' Shrek and Megamind will be among the first to be released through Samsung's Smart TV platform and viewers are also set to be able to access advertisements and music videos. It has been described as the "industry's first video-on-demand service … to provide high-quality 3D content". Sports fans eager to watch live coverage online may also be able to access footage through YouTube, after it was revealed that the online streaming website is in talks with sports broadcasters to put the content on its webpage.
