aming media initiative being launched by Google is set to involve world-renowned celebrities taking part in sponsorship deals on the search engine's YouTube site. According to Monsters and Critics, Google is currently sounding out A-list Hollywood stars about whether they would like to take part in the scheme, which it hopes will result in various channels of its YouTube operation garnering greater levels of advertising revenue, the Financial Times reported. Currently, Google is remaining tight-lipped on potential participants, but it is believed they would be paid an advance wage in cash against a share of the expected increased advertising income from their presence on the channels. This forms part of a growing trend seeing some of the globe's biggest brands - such as Amazon and Warner Bros - embracing streaming media in response to the changing viewer habits. Meanwhile, the BBC recently revealed that the live streaming service on its iPlayer service is becoming more popular. ![]() |
