The new streaming audio service Vevo from Universal and Sony is set to go live in the UK.
Users will be able to listen to streamed music and audio content from some of the biggest music artists in the world when using the new system, it has been revealed, with the new Vevo website being launched for UK consumers. Prior to this, people wishing to listen to the content had to log on Vevo's site via Google's YouTube video streaming service. "Even though we are still in the test phase of our UK launch, we couldn't wait any longer to offer fans a sneak peek of what VEVO is all about," Vevo's chief executive officer Rio Caraeff said in a statement. Meanwhile, YouTube has announced it is to launch its own pay-per-view streaming video service. The site will offer major Hollywood blockbusters to its online users, with YouTube Movies having signed agreements with some of the biggest US studios, including Warner Bros, Lionsgate and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
