Apple has announced it is in talks with four major record labels as part of the launch of its upcoming streaming audio service.
The firm has claimed it is on track to sign deals with Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group, among others, with the firm already having a deal in place with Warner Music Group for the licensing of its artists. As a result, Apple's entry into the cloud-based music sector looks to be gathering pace and will likely be completed before the year is out. Recent reports also revealed that Apple has signed an agreement with EMI Music. Meanwhile, streaming video in the UK is going strong at present following the launch of the latest entrant into the market - Vevo. The firm has signed deals with major Hollywood studios including Sony and Universal, meaning the site is offering the latest blockbuster titles for on-demand viewing by subscribers.
