| Gulf Air launches live TV in-flight via streaming media |

International airline Gulf Air has introduced a first-of-its-kind new streaming media offering that will allow it to provide passengers with live TV broadcasts in-flight.
The new Sky Hub communications and entertainment solution has been developed alongside Panasonic and offers full broadband internet connectivity, mobile phone services, VoIP streaming videos and satellite broadcasts from multiple countries. Two-way broadband connectivity at speeds of up to 50 Mbps will be offered for each aircraft, providing access to football matches or news channels such as BBC World News, BBC Arabic and Euronews. Other new services include access to virtual private networks via personal devices and broadband-speed internet access via a wireless internet service provided by Deutsche Telekom. Gulf Air chief executive officer Samer Majali said: "I am sure this avant-garde, cutting-edge technology will fundamentally change our passengers' communications and entertainment experience onboard setting a new standard for in-flight entertainment."
