Broadcaster Channel 4 has announced it is carrying out a live stream of a natural event that will highlight the animal food chain in action.
Hippo: Wild Feast Live is being shown on Channel4.com and features cutting-edge streaming video technology to showcase the natural world in action, after the show's producers have placed a hippo carcass in Zambia's Luangwa Valley by a section of the Luangwa river. Filming is taking place 24 hours per day and will reveal the range of animals that come to feed on the hippo. Kath Moore at Tigress Productions commented: "Every new turn in technology opens new doors and at Tigress we love to harness those innovations, pushing boundaries and seeing the world from new angles." Meanwhile, US film studios have backed the use of cloud streaming video technology in its ability to provide access to a wide variety of streaming media content. Representatives for Sony Pictures and Disney told Reuters new services such as UltraViolet will help to increase demand for streaming media content among consumers over the coming years.
