A 4G cellphone from HTC, the Evo, features a new streaming tool. The phone is capable of streaming video content direct to the web. According to the UberGizmo blog, the phone is capable of handling streaming content, despite streaming being so data intensive. The website notes that the phone comes bundled with Qik, which allows live video to be streamed direct to the internet - something which the site says could be useful for those keen on citizen journalism. And with a HD-capable camera, users can be confident their images will be clear. While 4G services are not yet widely available, they are being rolled out in various places around the world, and as the service becomes more widespread, such functions on a phone may also become more common. The Sprint network in the US has confirmed the release of the product, saying: "Sprint 4G speeds will take mobile multimedia, including live video streaming, gaming and picture downloads, to a whole new level." ![]() |
