A new streaming video venture is being launched by Google and could be fully operational by the spring.
Rishi Chandra, product lead for Google TV, told attendees of Streaming Media West 2010 in Los Angeles this week that the company is hoping to embrace the popularity of streaming media to set up a new TV channel. During his presentation he argued that "the web is now a channel on your TV" and said as overall television consumption has risen in recent years it now makes sense to offer consumers a resource in a medium they are interested in exploring. Elsewhere, Elemental Technologies recently claimed it is "pushing the boundaries" for streaming media with its new parallel video processing solutions. Streaming Media West 2010 is to be the showcase for the company's new range of devices that offer 3D streams up to 1080p for Microsoft Smooth Streaming, concurrent with delivery of 2D streams for Adobe Flash and the Apple iPad and iPod Touch. ![]() |
