A new partnership between Roku and Al Jazeera TV has seen the television channel be streamed live in English on all Roku set-top boxes for its US customers.
In the wake of the civil unrest in Egypt, Lost Remote claims Al Jazeera has been found to be offering the best coverage of the disturbances, but many cable providers are reluctant to offer the Qatar-based channel - mainly for political reasons. However, this new deal between Al Jazeera and Roku has meant that a live feed of the network's broadcast is now available in English for US users. To install the new channel, users are advised to download the Roku Newscaster application. Meanwhile, Samsung has announced a new partnership with LoveFilm that will allow users of its Blu-Ray disc players to download streaming video content direct from its servers. A representative for Samsung said: "Customers will get more variety, choice and entertainment from our innovative products." Posted by Emma Johnson ![]() |
