More people are using live streaming services from the internet, according to recent figures.
The BBC has released user statistics for its iPlayer, which shows that it is becoming increasingly popular among people in the UK. It was introduced as a means to allow viewers to watch the BBC's television shows online via their computer or mobile phone so that they can catch programmes they may have missed when they were originally aired. The BBC stated that in February 2011, the corporation received 148 million requests for its iPlayer services and 162 million during the previous month. Of the February figures, 72 per cent of requests were made from computers, showing that live streaming through the internet on PCs is becoming more common in households. The BBC revealed that the statistics show the iPlayer - excluding the Virgin Media platform - was used 4.5 million times every day last month by 1.8 million people. Posted by Emma Johnson ![]() |
