MySpace Music and Microsoft are currently in talks about developing the MSN music streaming service, according to reports. The preliminary discussions are aimed at achieving a deal between the two companies which could see MSN Music benefiting from MySpace's streaming content and services. Both MySpace and MSN offer similar music services including downloads, streaming music playback, information about concert appearances and commercial music videos. However, MySpace Music is more interactive and user-orientated, with popular user forums and a karaoke section that gives web users the chance to post their own video musical performances. MySpace also attracts much more web traffic than MSN's music service, so Microsoft hopes the partnership will help boost the popularity of MSN's music services. According to recent figures from comScore, MySpace Music is second only to AOL Music, which attracted 27.4 million unique monthly visitors in April. Meanwhile, MSN Music came in at a distant sixth place with just 7.4 million unique monthly visitors. ![]() |
