The BBC is set to re-launch its new look iPlayer video streaming service this week.
The latest incarnation of the popular service will be able to support integration with social networking sites and will come complete with a range of new customisation features. An updated "distinctively styled" design has also been implemented to make the service more enjoyable and fun to use. Writing on the corporation's official blog, the BBC's head of iPlayer James Hewines commented: "We hope these features represent a crucial evolutionary step in the enjoyment of online TV and radio. "The BBC iPlayer team are very excited about the latest developments going live...this is a big step for the product and its users." BBC's iPlayer has been available on beta for the past few months and the latest trends reveal that viewers watched more streaming media content on the beta platform than they did on earlier versions of the catch-up service, with the most popular programmes being Eastenders, Top Gear, Doctor Who and Sherlock. ![]() |
