Streaming audio supplier Spotify has announced it has signed up its one millionth paying subscriber in Europe ahead of its US launch date.
The company is now valued at more than $1 billion (£619 million) and is preparing to break into the lucrative US market, so this announcement could not have come at a better time for the firm as it gears up for the launch, the Telegraph reports. Daniel Ek, Spotify's chief executive said: "Growing to over one million paying subscribers is an awesome milestone for us and we're humbled to see how popular Spotify has become over the past two years." Elsewhere, Spotify recently entered into a new promotion with beverage manufacturer Lucozade Energy to offer free downloads for those who purchase the firm's products. According to Marketing magazine, the collaboration has come at the perfect time for both companies, as Lucozade also recently launched its new "Lucozade fans fives" promotion.
