Channel 4's streaming service 4oD has seen an improved level of usage in 2011, with long-form video views reaching a total of 427 million.
The online catch-up service saw a 16 per cent increase in usage compared to 2010, with 4oD users on Channel4.com watching content for an average of 26 minutes per view. In December 2011 alone, 4oD attracted 40 million users, watching an average of two hours during the month, with Misfits, Hollyoaks, This is England '88 and The Inbetweeners ranking as the most frequently requested shows. The growing popularity of 4oD was also bolstered by the launch of a dedicated app for Microsoft's Xbox 360, which launched on December 21st. In one month, it has become the third-largest 4oD viewing platform. Channel 4 launched the service in 2006 and it has also been made available on platforms such as PlayStation 3, Virgin Media and BT Vision, as well as offering content via YouTube.
