Online Video Platform

An OVP works to bring together the ‘back end’ storage and delivery of Online Audio and Video, with the ‘front end’ pages used to deliver this video, and makes everything available across multiple environments, including the web, mobile devices and other ways of delivering video over the Internet, such as Set Top Boxes(STBs).

Kaltura allows customers to upload a single version of their video, and have it automatically transcoded into all the delivery ‘flavours’ they may need. Each video is treated as a single object that can be marked with sophisticated Metadata (such as Title, Description and any other items customers wish to define) and can be allocated to categories that can also be customer defined.

Videos can also be tagged with free text which can be searched on.

Manual or programmed playlists can then be created to select videos for display.

Then, web pages can be built, based on the back end metadata, so that they are dependent of the content uploaded. Video is added to the system, or playlists altered, this is automatically reflected in the web pages without any further development effort. Furthermore, the system will automatically detect the kind of device the pages are being viewed on and will automatically display the correct player and video flavour for the device.

Because Kaltura provides an entire video eco-system, where the supporting framework for playing video in multiple environments ‘just works’, video centric web pages, micro-sites and applications can be developed very rapidly.

Because the pages are separated from the platform itself, the development is effectively ‘future-proofed’ because new video formats, player types and delivery methods and devices will be incorporated in to the platform and will become available to the pages automatically.

And, finally, because this is a 3rd party, open source platform, customers are not tied into us, or any other company, if you wish to make changes to your solution in the future.

In short, Kaltura and Groovy Gecko do all the heavy-lifting for our customers.
